Cordless Vacuums-Do they have the power?

Cordless vacuum cleaners have really not been in existence that long if one looks at how far back in time the corded vacuum cleaner actually goes.  However, they have become very popular quite rapidly because of the ease and convenience that they offer.  Cordless vacuums run on battery power and then have a docking station or charging station that they are plugged into when they are not being used.  Because of this, they always remain charged up and ready for the next cleaning task, making them very convenient for quick touch-ups.  For large cleaning jobs, though, the cordless vacuums are not recommended because they do not hold a charge for a long enough period of time to vacuum an entire house.  They also lack the strong suction that corded vacuums have and therefore are not reliable for whole-house cleaning.  Despite this, however, many people own cordless vacuum cleaners – usually as an addition to their corded vacuum – because they are great for touch-ups and many of them can get more easily into places that are harder to reach, making them very convenient.  They can also be carried outside to vacuum out a vehicle, vacuum up debris and dirt on a porch or patio, or clean a walkway, although with the possible exception of the vehicle interior most people would simply sweep off these areas.

Most of the main manufacturers of vacuum cleaners make cordless models, with the most well-known one being the Dirt Devil handheld cordless.  These sell more than any other cordless model, partially because of brand recognition of the Dirt Devil name and partially because they are good quality and have maintained that reputation for many years.  This keeps them in the forefront of the consumers’ thoughts when it comes to vacuum cleaners and ensures that they continue to have good marketability.  In addition to the Dirt Devil brand, however, there are other companies that make good quality and highly reliable cordless vacuum cleaners.  The argument about how well they perform and how much suction they really have, however, is still a debate between consumers of varying opinions.

It is commonly accepted that the cordless vacuums do not have the same suction power as the corded vacuums, but the debate then becomes whether there are drastic differences in suction power between the various brands of cordless vacuum cleaners.  Most consumers that have knowledge of this subject indicate that there is actually surprisingly little difference between the very expensive brands and the less expensive brands of cordless vacuum cleaners when it comes to the actual suction power that they have.  All cordless vacuum cleaners that are manufactured by common and well-known brands, therefore, can be expected to perform in much the same way when it comes to actual cleaning, but the reliability and durability of the various units is often different.  Some companies have longer warranties than others, some have stronger motors in their vacuum cleaners, and the most expensive product is not always the best one for a particular consumer.  The savvy consumer will look at many different brands before he or she makes a purchase where a cordless vacuum is concerned to ensure that the best possible deal has been found.
