Dirt Devil Vacuums

Dirt Devil vacuum cleaners are a division of TTI Floor Care North America.  They came into existence in 1981 when a group of investors got together and purchased what was at that time the Royal vacuum cleaner company.  Eventually, Royal changed its name to TTI Floor Care North America, but the Dirt Devil brand remained.  Dirt Devil’s most popular product in the early years was the handvac, because consumers could simply carry the little vacuum to wherever they needed it to clean up small areas as opposed to being forced to drag out a full-sized vacuum cleaner for only a minute or two worth of vacuuming.  The cordless handvac soon followed, allowing consumers to go to even more areas of their homes more easily.  The cordless model could also be used to vacuum out vehicles or go to other areas where a corded vacuum could not easily be accommodated.  Naturally, many consumers found this to be extremely helpful by both shortening their cleaning time and making their work easier by providing them with a less heavy and cumbersome vacuum cleaner and by not tethering them to any specific electrical outlet.  Not everyone that buys a Dirt Devil handvac finds it a good deal, however.  Some consumers discover that the cordless model does not produce enough suction and does not run long enough on batteries to make it worthwhile for the average cleaning job, while others feel that it is too expensive for the quality of the product.  The same quality concerns also appear to be true of individuals that have purchased the corded models.  Although there is no problem with the vacuum running out of power the suction is still not what some individuals hope for in a cleaning product.

The handvac is not the only product that Dirt Devil makes.  In the beginning the company concentrated the Dirt Devil vacuum brand in the portable or hand-held vacuum market, but they soon began expanding the product line to include upright and canister vacuums as well.  Now Dirt Devil makes stick-vacs, hard surface cleaners, and bagless vacuums, among other styles, and their profits and market share continue to grow.  When polls are taken of the average American consumer, 98 percent of these individuals know the Dirt Devil brand, recognize it, and are aware that it involves vacuum cleaners.  In addition, these consumers are also aware that the Dirt Devil brand means quality, durability, and reliability.  While there are many other vacuum brands that also have this kind of reputation, there are no other vacuum brands that are recognized are strongly as Dirt Devil.  Another advantage that Dirt Devil has over the high-end vacuum cleaners is that Dirt Devil vacuums can be purchased virtually everywhere.  The company has a Web presence, but Dirt Devil vacuum products can also be purchased at major retail stores and reconditioned models can be bought at some of the discount retailers in many areas of the country.  This ability that Dirt Devil has to ensure that their products are so readily available is a large part of what makes the company so very successful.
